Acoustic Insulation & Soundproofing on the Gold Coast

Purpose-designed acoustic batts for walls, ceilings, and floors. We reduce noise between rooms and from outside so your home is genuinely quieter.

What Acoustic Insulation Does

Acoustic insulation is specifically engineered to absorb and dampen sound waves - reducing the transmission of noise through walls, floors, and ceilings. Unlike standard thermal batts, acoustic products are denser and have higher sound absorption coefficients, making them significantly more effective at controlling noise in living spaces.

Common applications include bedroom and bathroom walls (to reduce sound from adjoining rooms), home theatre or media room walls, floors between storeys in multi-level homes, and shared walls in duplexes or townhouses. We assess your space, identify the noise sources, and install the right acoustic product in the right locations to deliver a genuine reduction in sound levels.

What's Involved

Noise Assessment

We talk through where noise is coming from and which walls, floors, or ceilings are the priority. Understanding the noise source helps us recommend the most effective product and installation approach.

Product Selection

We specify the appropriate acoustic batt - considering cavity dimensions, STC (Sound Transmission Class) requirements, and whether we're addressing airborne noise, impact noise, or both.

Installation

Acoustic batts are fitted tightly into each cavity without compression - ensuring full coverage with no flanking paths that would allow sound to bypass the insulation. Flanking is the most common reason acoustic installs underperform.

Completion & Review

We walk through the completed installation, confirm all areas are covered, and answer any questions about what to expect once linings are fixed and the space is finished.

3 Key Benefits

Genuine Noise Reduction

Acoustic batts deliver meaningful reductions in sound transmission - not just a marginal improvement. Properly installed, they make a noticeable difference to everyday living comfort.

Better Privacy

Acoustic insulation between bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas gives your household greater privacy - especially useful in open-plan homes where sound travels easily.

Dual Thermal Benefit

Acoustic batts also provide thermal insulation - so you're getting two benefits from one install. Ideal for internal walls in homes where both temperature and noise control matter.

Common Questions

What's the difference between acoustic and thermal insulation batts?

Acoustic batts are denser than standard thermal batts and are specifically designed to absorb sound waves. They have a higher mass per unit area, which improves their Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating. Standard thermal batts do provide some sound benefit, but acoustic products perform significantly better where noise reduction is the primary goal.

Will acoustic insulation completely soundproof a room?

Acoustic insulation significantly reduces sound transmission, but complete soundproofing requires a system approach - including decoupled wall framing, acoustic plasterboard, and sealing penetrations. Insulation is one important part of that system. We'll give you an honest assessment of what to expect from an insulation-only installation versus a full acoustic treatment.

Can acoustic insulation be added to existing walls?

Retrofitting acoustic insulation into closed walls is best done when walls are already open for other renovation work. If walls are not being opened, adding an acoustic lining system to the face of the wall (without opening the cavity) is often the more practical approach. We'll discuss the best option for your situation during the quote process.
